    What to expect: The resort attracts families seeking casual holidays featuring water-attraction fun, who wish to be north of heavier downtown traffic while remaining within easy driving distance of downtown attractions. Guests age 20 and younger are not permitted unless accompanied by an adult.

    Amenity highlights: A 200-foot lazy river sheltered by a solarium in winter provides year-round fun. Sharing the same outdoor deck is an unheated 50-foot-long free-form pool and a 16-person spa tub.

    Insider tip: The resort offers golfers playing privileges to the celebrated and private Dunes Golf Course seven miles away.

    Property Amenities
    During summer, complimentary, supervised children's indoor and outdoor activities are offered, with surcharges for certain arts and crafts and a weekly pizza night. Coin-operated laundry machines are located in the resort's 15-story tower. A fitness center contains cardio machines and a Universal gym. Self-serve coffee is available in the lobby 24 hours.

    The resort offers 277 guestrooms and suites. Most are located in a 15-story tower and a five-story building with elevators. Rooms and suites feature ocean-view balconies.

    Sea Captain's House - Freestanding restaurant occupying former beach cottage dating from the early 1930s. Wood-paneled dining room and open-air terrace. Buffet and à la carte breakfast. Lunch/dinner menu with choices such as crab soup, sea island shrimp, oyster plate, jambalaya, Lowcountry crab casserole, grilled beef tenderloin, burgers, salads, and sandwiches.

    Island Grill - Open May-August for lunch and dinner of burgers, hot dogs, snack food, soft drinks.

    Pool Bar - Sandwiches, burgers, tropical drinks during warm-weather season.

    Recreation
    Sheltered in a solarium from November to early May, an oceanfront 200-foot lazy river with float tubes provides year-round fun. Located on the same pool deck are an unheated 100-foot-long free-form pool and two, year-round, 16-person spa tubs, as well as giant chess and checkers sets. Adjacent to the deck is a children's water park with a 25-foot pool featuring a mushroom shower and a splash area with dancing fountains, a bucket drop, and raintree showers.

    A year-round indoor complex features an irregularly shaped 50-foot-long pool sanitized by a light saline solution rather than chlorine. Two four-person spa tubs provide indoor soaking. Sunbathing spaces include a lawn between the resort and the beach, which can be reached by a wooden staircase over fragile grasses, and a third-floor deck overlooking the street. The resort also includes a putting green.

    A water sports center 2.25 miles away offers rental equipment, including personal watercraft and windsurfers, and books parasailing flights and banana boat rides. The resort's front desk books tee times at the Myrtle Beach area's 120 golf courses, including playing privileges at the private, famous Dunes Golf Course.
